MIT Technology Review reports engineered microbes are being explored as a lower‑emission alternative to traditional fertilizers for global crops. The same issue highlights internal culture and safety concerns at OpenAI, according to the newsletter.
IEEE and Bhutan’s government held an Engineering Education, Research, and Innovation Summit on 9–10 June in Paro to discuss workforce-ready curricula, AI in higher education, research infrastructure, and values-driven innovation tied to Gross National Happiness. IEEE offered a six-month trial of its Electronic Library and eLearning Library to Bhutanese universities, government institutions, and industries to support research and teaching development.
IDF and Oaktree will invest $1.7bn to support Bloom Energy’s fuel cell deployments across Nebius data centres in the US. Bloom and Nebius signed an offtake agreement in May to underpin the project.
Microsoft has partnered with 3M to use the company’s expanded‑beam fiber technology aimed at simplifying and accelerating connectivity for AI data centers. The move is intended to reduce deployment time and limit particulate contamination during installation, per Data Center Dynamics reporting.
Emma Strutton interviews Jerry Toth on how liquid cooling is being used to enable higher rack densities and improve efficiency in modern data centers. They discuss implications for sustainable AI growth and infrastructure planning.
A report from Data Center Dynamics says data centers in Ireland consumed 23% of the country’s electricity in 2025, up 10% from the previous year. The figure highlights rapid growth in power demand from hyperscale and colocation facilities, according to the source.
SLB has partnered with Liberty Energy to develop behind‑the‑meter power infrastructure for data centres, according to Data Center Dynamics. The collaboration will focus on on‑site power systems rather than grid‑side solutions.
Trinidad and Tobago has signed memoranda of understanding with American companies to host AI data centers, according to reports. It remains unclear whether the country has the financial, technical, or infrastructure resources to support these projects.
ECL has partnered with PowerCell to install hydrogen fuel cell power systems at its Santa Clara data center. The project aims to demonstrate fuel cell reliability for supporting data center power needs in the US market.
Data Center Dynamics argues data center cooling strategies should be selected based on chip junction temperatures, local climate, and long-term efficiency goals. Matching heat-rejection methods to those factors can guide more sustainable and cost-effective infrastructure choices.
Data Center Dynamics warns that rising AI compute density requires project teams to prioritise fundamental electrical design and capacity planning. Teams must ensure reliable power delivery, cooling integration, and compliance with evolving standards to avoid costly retrofits.
Private equity firm EQT has acquired Copia Power, a developer of energy infrastructure and data center projects, from Carlyle, according to Data Center Dynamics. The deal expands EQT’s portfolio of data center-related investments.
